The head of the Jordan and Amman
Chamber of Industry, Eng. Fathi Al-Jaghbir stressed the importance of the Saudi
market for Jordanian industrial exports, noting that the volume of Jordanian
exports to Saudi Arabia exceeds 505 million dinars annually.
Al-Jaghbir added, during his inauguration of an introductory workshop on
registration and export procedures to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through the
Saber electronic platform, in the presence of a large number of Jordanian
industrialists, that this week will witness the holding of the meetings of the
Jordanian-Saudi joint committee in Riyadh, headed by His Excellency the
Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply, and the industrial sector will be
represented in These meetings, where all issues and obstacles facing Jordanian
industrialists will be discussed at the dialogue table with officials in the
Saudi sister.
For his part, Director General of the Amman Chamber of Industry, Dr. Nael
Al-Hussami, stated that the Chamber sought to confirm the accreditation of the
Jordanian Institution for Standards and Metrology as one of the conformity
bodies with the Saudi Organization for Standardization, Metrology and Quality,
and to authorize it to issue conformity certificates for Jordanian products. Al-Hussami
called on the exporters who applied to their obligatory products to register
and export via the platform, to start a review of the Conformity Directorate at
the Institution for Standards and Metrology to start procedures without delay.
For her part, the director of the Conformity Certificates Directorate at the
General Organization for Engineering Standards and Metrology, Tamara
Al-Qatranah, indicated that the Saber platform is a Saudi electronic platform
that allows the exporter to the Saudi market to issue the required conformity
certificates for the consignment electronically, which is mandatory for the
following products: children's toys, electrical appliances and low-voltage
equipment , Lubricating oils, detergents, paints and varnishes, building
materials, plastic products, elevators, auto parts and electric batteries,
textile products, shoes, leather and solar energy systems, while pain will be
added Increased products at the beginning of next year 2020.
Staff of the General Organization for Standardization and Metrology reviewed
the procedures necessary to obtain a conformity certificate from the
institution for those wishing to register via the Saber platform, where an
extensive discussion took place on these procedures.
