Amman Chamber of
Industry Board member Dima Sakhtian stressed the importance of activating
cooperation with regional and international support entities, to help national
industries manage industrial waste of all kinds, especially since many
factories face difficulties in providing funding to implement Requirements
required by laws on environmental protection and waste management.
"The goal of
strengthening environmental management in Jordan is to help Jordanian factories
meet the challenges of air and water pollution and waste management in
Jordan," she said. The chamber will cooperate with the Royal Scientific
Society in implementing this project, which is carried out within the framework
of the Free Trade Agreement between Jordan and the United States of America.
For his part, The Vice
President of Consulting and Studies at the Royal Scientific Society, Engineer
Rafat Assi, explained that within the framework of the project will implement a
set of technical services for the 18 factories to be selected, where the
services will include analysis of the gap between the current environmental
performance of the plant and the best Possible performance levels, identifying
low-cost development and improvement opportunities, identifying opportunities
for cooperation and technology transfer with U.S. companies, building
partnerships, identifying the best available technologies in line with factory
conditions and giving alternatives to reduce melasma.
Assi pointed out that
as a result of these services, the factories to be covered by the project will
get the opportunity to identify the best solutions and technologies for
reducing the pollutants released from them and the possibility of finding
investment opportunities to use those technologies, pointing out that the project
operators will organize many of the Training workshops, scientific visits and
wave panel discussions with specialized U.S. companies to share experiences to
promote environmental management in Jordan.
The first secretary
and regional environment officer at the U.S. Embassy in Amman, Hal Konstantin,
noted the ongoing cooperation between the Scientific Society and the U.S.
Embassy in implementing multiple programs in the field of environment.
Konstantin said the
project seeks to share experiences and experiences to develop the performance
and competitiveness of Jordanian industries in order to serve the goal of
enhancing environmental management in the Kingdom.
