Al jaghbair: 93% of national exports are led by the industrial sector

Data issued by the Jordan Chamber of Industry on Sunday showed that industrial exports achieved a historical level in which they reached about 5.6 billion dinars (approximately $8 billion), with the end of the first year "after the pandemic year."

The data said that these figures came despite the continuing repercussions of the pandemic, and the challenges and obstacles it imposed on the global and national economy until the middle of last year 2021, which in turn led to creating a state of uncertainty about the economic and commercial situation worldwide; Most of it was represented by the inflation that the pandemic left behind, the most prominent of which came in the high prices and costs of shipping and transportation, and the high prices of raw materials for many goods and products.

The head of the Jordan and Amman Chambers of Industry, Fathi Al-Jaghbir, said that the industrial sector was able to prove its ability to adapt and adapt to the current conditions, research and try to find solutions and alternatives to continue the production process, growth and prosperity, most of which culminated in the arrival of industrial exports to an unprecedented historical level during the past years. , to also maintain its share, which is considered the largest of the national exports, which reaches 93%.

Jaghbir said that the chamber's data came through a paper prepared by the Jordan Chamber of Industry that includes an analysis of Jordanian foreign trade in addition to industrial exports, which recorded a growth rate of nearly 20% compared to 2020, and by 21.6% compared to 2019.

Jaghbir pointed out that industrial exports reached this level as a result of the increase in exports of: The chemical and cosmetic industries sector, the mining industries sector, the leather industries sector, and the construction industries sector, with a value of 956 million dinars, where most of the industrial sectors recorded growth rates in their exports ranging between (1.6% as a minimum represented by the exports of the engineering industries sector, with a growth rate of 142%). as an upper limit in the construction industries sector) compared to 2020.

He stressed that this rise came as a result of the continuous national efforts to expand the geographical scope of exports, represented in improving and strengthening economic and trade relations with various countries of the world and regions, by participating in trade fairs and holding meetings and periodic meetings with all trading partners to solve and follow up on outstanding issues and problems facing them. industrialists in the export process.

Jaghbir indicated that the Chamber is in the process of participating in the formulation and preparation of the national export strategy implemented by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply in cooperation with the concerned authorities from the private sector, with the aim of increasing the commodity and geographical diversity of national exports, and investing all available untapped export opportunities, which were estimated at approximately $4.4 billion. . He pointed out that the exploitation of these opportunities will reduce the trade balance deficit, which exceeded 8 billion dinars at the end of 2021, in addition to contributions in various economic and social fields, by creating more job opportunities for our young children, and providing the state treasury with foreign currency.

He drew attention to the need to pay attention to the sector due to its current state of growth that could have a significant impact on consolidating the sector's position regionally and globally, and moving forward in implementing the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II calling for drawing and defining the features and identity of the Jordanian economy and priority sectors, in a way that enables us all From harnessing energies and directing resources to achieve desired goals.
