Yesterday, in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, trade talks took place between a Jordanian industrial delegation headed by His Excellency the Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply, in the presence of the President of the Jordan and Amman Chambers of Industry, Eng. Fathi Al-Jaghbir, and the Federation of Saudi Chambers headed by Mr. Ajlan bin Abdulaziz Al-Ajlan.

During the meeting, they discussed enhancing economic cooperation between Jordan and Saudi Arabia in various fields and maximizing the benefit of available opportunities and the support that bilateral cooperation enjoys by His Majesty King Abdullah II and his brother, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz.

Jaghbir explained that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during the past decades has been the largest supporter of the Jordanian economy and is the closest to Jordan in various political and economic conditions, as this support has evolved from the traditional framework of directly supporting Jordan financially.

He added that we are looking forward to expanding the frameworks of economic cooperation to include the promotion of Saudi investment in the Kingdom, which in 2019 amounted to about 10 billion dollars and was concentrated in the sectors of transport, infrastructure, energy, the financial and commercial sector and tourism construction, and this number can be increased in light of the great opportunities and potentials available.

On the sidelines of the meeting, the Jordan Chamber of Industry and the Federation of Saudi Chambers signed a memorandum of cooperation and another memorandum between the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and the Amman Chamber of Industry aimed at strengthening trade and investment relations and exchanging information on promising opportunities in the two brotherly countries.

The meeting included bilateral discussions between the business sectors and areas of cooperation during the coming period.
