The Public Authority of the Jordan and Amman Chambers of Industry discussed, during a meeting held yesterday evening, the new government proposal on amending the industrial activities support program and export subsidy as an alternative to the current system,which was implemented last year to support exports by 3 and 5 percent of its growth.

During the meeting, which was chaired by the head of the Jordan and Amman Chambers of Industry, Eng. Fathi Al-Jaghbir, the General Assembly confirmed that re-introducing an alternative to the program represents a clear retreat by the government from its obligations towards the industrial sector.

According to a press statement by the Amman Chamber of Industry, today, Monday, the meeting indicated that the government proposes that the financial support be based on the increase in sales for industrial companies, not on the entire volume of sales or exports as is currently in effect, in addition to the many and complex requirements that do not serve the reality of growth exports.

During the meeting, it was agreed to form a small committee consisting of members of the boards of directors of the Jordan and Amman Chambers of Industry and the General Authority to come up with a unified position for the industrial sector.

According to the statement, the committee will discuss several proposals with a focus on the currently in force program to ensure simplification of its procedures or return to the alternative program that was approved by the government in 2018, after extensive study with international organizations, which spent its time exempting 70 percent of taxable income for the industrial sector in general, with the aim of compensating for Impose income tax on exports.
