The Jordanian and Iraqi sides discussed, during a meeting held remotely via audio-visual technology, the necessary work mechanisms for the joint economic city project after the completion of the land allocation from the Iraqi side, and the Jordanian side preceded it.

The meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply, Engineer Maha Ali, and the Iraqi Minister of Industry and Minerals, Manhal Aziz Al-Khabbaz, in the presence of a number of officials from both countries and members of the Supreme Steering Committee for the establishment of the joint economic city. The two sides stressed that this project, which comes within the framework of bilateral cooperation projects between Jordan and Iraq, aims to enhance cooperation in various economic fields and contribute to achieving integration in a number of sectors that will benefit both parties.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade said in a statement today, that the subsequent steps for this project have been identified, which will be elaborated through the meetings of the technical committees from both sides and will be held in Amman next week, so that a clear work plan will be drawn up and an agreement will be made to unify procedures, work mechanisms, privileges and legal frameworks in preparation for bidding for studies. Feasibility and necessary operational procedures for the project.

The meeting was attended by the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply, Eng. Hassan Al-Omari, the Acting Head of the Investment Authority, Faridoun Hartouqa, the Director General of the Income and Sales Tax Department Hussam Abu Ali, the Director General of Customs Jalal Al-Qudah, the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation Marwan Al-Rifai, the Board of Directors of the Iraqi Jordanian Company for Industry, its executive management and the steering committee of the project From both sides.
