Alrai - Muhaidat: "Food and Drug" does not close any industrial establishment
until after it commits a grave breach.
"Food and Drug" agrees to extend the powers of the GMP certificate to
cosmetic factories.
The head of the Jordan and Amman Chambers of
Industry, Engineer Fathi Al-Jaghbir emphasized the importance of cooperation
between the General Organization for Food and Drug and the industrial sector.
He praised the Foundation's efforts in resolving issues of concern to the
industrial sector, especially during the Corona pandemic.
This came during the meeting chaired by Engineer
Al-Jaghbir in the Jordan Chamber of Industry and gathering industrial companies
operating in the cosmetics and Dead Sea salts sector with the Director General
of the Food and Drug General Organization, Dr. Nizar Muhaidat, in the presence
of Eng. Ahmed Al-Bas, representative of the chemical industries and cosmetics
sector.
Engineer Al-Jaghbir valued the opening of an
office for the institution in the Amman Chamber of Industry building, to
facilitate the industrialists and save their time and effort, stressing that
the Jordanian detergents and detergents industry has witnessed a great
development in recent years in terms of quality and quantity of production, so
that these industries have become able to cover the needs of the local market
and export markets. .
In turn, Dr. Muhaidat emphasized the
corporation’s keenness to support the competitiveness of Jordanian industries,
by facilitating registration and export procedures for these products.
He announced that all 78 services provided by
the corporation will be automated, including registration, classification and
certification, in addition to the creation of a specialized unit in the
organization on the subject of filtering and classification of products that
quickly provides services to the auditors.
Muhaidat stressed that the Foundation, in its
procedures, places securing safe and healthy food and medicine for the citizen
at the top of its priorities, in implementation of the directives of His
Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein.
He emphasized that the corporation does not
resort to closing any industrial establishment, except after making sure that
it committed a grave breach related to the citizen's health.
On the same level, Muhaidat said during the
meeting that the GMP application certificate, which is considered Zambian for
factories operating in cosmetics, which has expired, was considered valid until
the inspection teams of the Food and Drug Administration come to the factory to
ensure that their requirements are applied. Provided that the manufacturer
submitted an application to the institution to renew the certificate before
9/17/2020.
In response to the requests of industrial
companies, Muhaidat decided to approve the extension of the validity of the GMP
certificate issued for the first time for a period of two years instead of one
year.
With regard to the industrial companies ’request
for equality between the GMP Good Manufacturing Practices certificate and the
ISO22716 international certificate for local factories, Muhadidat agreed to
that for a period of three months, provided that a specialized technical
committee is formed to ensure the ISO22716 certification is completely equal to
the principles of good manufacturing practices GMP and that this committee be
included Two representatives of the Chambers of Industry are Eng. Abdullah
Al-Banna and Eng. Soha Al-Asadi.
