Al-Jitan stresses the importance of the partnership between the Chamber of Industry and the Ministry of Agriculture

alghad - The Vice President of the Jordan Chamber of Industry discussed, in the presence of a number of members of the Chamber’s Board of Directors, during their meeting today, Minister of Agriculture Khaled Al-Hanifat, problems and challenges that pertain to the industrial sector and intersect with the Ministry of Agriculture, specifically the food, chemical and fertilizer industries.

The Vice President of the Jordan Chamber of Industry - the representative of food industries, Muhammad Al-Jitan, stressed the importance of cooperation and partnership between the Chamber of Industry and the Ministry of Agriculture.

Al-Jitan pointed out that during the meeting, a matrix prepared by the Chamber of Industry was presented.

He stressed the importance of activating the partnership between the public and private sectors and for it to be an effective partnership towards achieving all the desired goals.

In turn, Minister Al-Hanifat expressed his readiness to solve the problems and overcome the challenges facing the work of industries, especially with regard to the cheese and poultry sector.

He stressed the importance of reactivating the committees concerned with chemical industries and fertilizers.

During the meeting, the role of the committee formed by a decision of the Prime Minister regarding the export of meat to the European Union was discussed, as it was agreed to activate the work of the committee and remove all obstacles in order to start exporting meat and poultry products to the European Union.
The meeting was attended by members of the Jordan Chamber of Industry, Eng. Ahmed Al-Bas, and Engineer Fawar Al-Shakaa and Tamim Al-Qasrawi.

It is noteworthy that the Jordanian food industries account for more than 60% of the local market share, while the Arab countries are the largest importers of its exports, with a percentage of more than 90% of the sector’s total exports. Iraq, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates are among the largest importing markets for food industries. Jordanian fruits, vegetables, drinks, dairy products, processed meats and oriental sweets are among the sector's main exports.

As for the chemical industries sector, it includes 700 industrial facilities and provides more than four times the needs of the local market, as local factories produce 375,000 tons annually of hand sanitizers, disinfectants and detergents.
