The Cabinet approves exemptions and postponements of dues for a number of sectors

Alrai - The Council of Ministers decided, in its session held last Sunday on January 31, headed by Prime Minister Dr. Beshr Al-Khasawneh to approve a set of measures that included exemptions and postponement of dues for a number of sectors and economic activities with the aim of sustaining their work and mitigating the repercussions of the Coronavirus pandemic on them.

These measures included allowing the affected sectors to pay dues in installments based on the basis of settling the outstanding claims between the taxpayers and the Income and Sales Tax Department for the year 2019, postponing all tax receivables on sectors that have been closed by government decisions and for the same period of closure, and assigning the Minister of Finance and the Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply to determine the non-closed sectors And the worst affected is to pay the tax on it automatically, and to continue to have the customs department complete 50 percent of the customs declaration upon clearance and grant a period of one month to pay the remaining dues on the declaration for the silver and gold lists and the companies that do not have any customs issues.

The measures also included continuing - and pursuant to Defense Order No. (1) - to give establishments an opportunity to postpone the payment of social security dues for the months (March, April, May) and install them until the end of the year 2023 without interest and delay the collection of membership fees to the Tourism Promotion Authority until 6/30 / 2021 Exemption of tourist professions associations (hotel and tourist establishments, tourist restaurants, offices of Jordanian tourism and travel companies, crafts, traditional and popular industries and tourist guides), including those licensed by the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority and the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority, from licensing fees and fines for the year 2021.

The procedures included exempting persons and entities dealing with (the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and the Department of Antiquities) from the allowance for the management and operation of tourist sites and facilities, the rent allowance for shops in the craft markets and visitor centers of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities for the year 2021 and continuing to give preference to the local product in government procurement in accordance with the Cabinet Decision issued.
