Alrai - The elections
for the Board of Directors of the Irbid Chamber of Industry were decided by
acclamation after the end of the nomination period on Saturday evening, as was
confirmed by "the opinion" previously.
According to the head of the election committee, Engineer Ali Abu Nuqta, the
number of candidates with the closing of the nomination door on Sunday is equal
to the number of the nine seats of the board of directors, and therefore the
council will be elected. By acclamation, regardless of any developments that
may occur later, up to the day set by the Independent Election Commission for
voting, which is the twenty-seventh of this month. Abu Nuqta said that the
polling committee received this morning the candidate lists and is working on
checking them according to the procedures and the extent to which the nomination
request conforms to the conditions stipulated in the Law of Industrial and
Commercial Chambers, pointing out that the audit period will last for two days,
after which it will be presented to the General Assembly and in two daily
newspapers for a period of three days for objection. .
Abu Nuqta clarified that the objection period ends on the sixth of this month,
for the electoral process to enter the period of withdrawals set for three
days, and then three days are given to whoever wishes to run in the event that
one or more candidates withdraw, his request is not accepted, or for other
compelling reasons.
Abu Nuqta affirmed that the recommendation process will not be affected in any
way according to these procedures. If one or more candidates are nominated to
fill one or more seats as a result of the aforementioned reasons and
obligations, a lot will be drawn between them to fill the vacant seats.
It is noteworthy that in the event that these procedures are completed, it is
likely, according to legal experts, that the Independent Election Commission
will announce that the candidates have won the Board of Directors of the Irbid
Chamber of Industry on the thirteenth of the current month of February, that
is, two weeks before the predetermined date for polling.
For their part, the nine candidates distributed the positions among them, as
they re-selected the former president of the chamber, Hani Abu Hassan, as the
president of the chamber to complete the current session for the next two years
after the Supreme Administrative Court canceled the results of the elections
that took place on the tenth of November of 2018.
Abu Hassan confirmed that The spirit of altruism and collective action led to
this consensus, which represented a strong desire among the majority of the
General Assembly, praising the efforts made by the head of the Investors
Association in Al-Hassan Industrial City, Imad Al-Naddaf, and industrialists to
reach this state of consensus, which is a precedent in the history of the Irbid
Chamber of Industry elections since its inception in 1999.
