Deputising for His Majesty King Abdullah, Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh attended the Jordan Industry Day, which was held by the Amman Chamber of Industry to showcase the achievements of the industrial sector in supporting the national economy and honoring major industrial exporters.

During the ceremony, which was attended by a number of ministers, officials and representatives of the private sector, the prime minister stressed that His Majesty the King always directs us to give the industrial sector the importance it deserves, which is the largest sector employing employment with 20% of the volume of employment in Jordan, constitutes a quarter of the size of the national economy and 95% of national exports, and attracts about 70% of foreign investments coming to the Kingdom.

Al-Khasawneh also stressed that the government is committed to a real partnership with the private sector in our endeavor to serve the citizen and find solutions to the problem of unemployment, in light of the limited ability of the government apparatus to provide job opportunities, which range between 10-15 thousand opportunities annually only with inputs to the labor market that reach 120 thousand people annually.

He stressed that the vision of economic modernization is a very ambitious plan and that its objectives require a lot of diligence and success, especially in the case of uncertainty that dominates the global economy and the crowding on windows and international financing tools as a result of the current international crises and the continued vulnerability to the repercussions of the Corona crisis and the imbalance in supply chains resulting from the Russian-Ukrainian crisis.

The Prime Minister stressed that thanks to the partnership with the private sector, we have overcome many crises and moved to the stage of economic recovery, where the economic growth rate during the past months reached 2.8 percent, which is a better number than last year, exports increased by 22 percent, and tourism income jumped by 110 percent compared to the same period last year, pointing out that these achievements were achieved thanks to government policies that contributed to raising the competitiveness of various sectors, especially industrial, through structural interventions, including re-tariffs. Electric energy prices for the purposes of directing the savings achieved to support the economic sectors in order to raise their competitiveness.

Al-Khasawneh also stressed that work is underway to achieve a major and central goal of supplying industrial cities with natural gas in order to reduce production costs on our national industries, in addition to customs reforms that included reducing customs brackets and measures to allow the required flow to serve the economic sectors.

Al-Khasawneh praised the great national role and contributions of the industrial sector and other Jordanian economic sectors, which helped us overcome the Corona pandemic period and move towards recovery, stressing that we rely on the positive and patriotic spirit rooted in the private sector as we enter the second centenary of the life of the Jordanian state in a phase entitled "The Advancement of the Nation and the Realization of the Aspirations of His Majesty King Abdullah II, supported by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, in improving the living conditions of citizens."

At the end of the ceremony, the Prime Minister handed over shields to the most exporting industrial companies during 2022.

Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply and Minister of Labor Yousef Al-Shamali expressed his pride and pride in the Jordanian industry and its achievements, pointing out that it constitutes 25 percent = of GDP and accounts for the majority of national exports.

He pointed to the real partnership that brings the government together with the industrial sector through its continuous and continuous support for the Jordanian industry, expressing the hope that it will continue to achieve the achievements and growth witnessed during the past years.

The Chairman of the Amman Chamber of Industry, Eng. Fathi Al-Jaghbeer, explained the importance of honoring the largest (100) industrial exporters during 2022, for their great role in supporting the Jordanian economy and employing the national workforce, and stressed that the selection of these exporters came according to the data of the Amman Chamber of Industry, where the utmost accuracy and transparency were taken.

Al-Jaghbir added that during the celebration, a number of new industrial investments were presented, which have already been established or are in the final stages of establishment, looking forward to contributing to creating more job opportunities for the people of this country, in addition to announcing a specialized exhibition center project that the Chamber intends to establish on a land area of 33 dunums owned by the Chamber on Airport Road, which includes several exhibition halls, in addition to a business park, where the Chamber will work to make the center equipped with the latest arrivals. In the same context, Al-Jaghbir stressed that His Majesty King Abdullah II's patronage of this celebration reflects the royal patronage of the industrial sector, as since the Corona pandemic, His Majesty the King's interest in the industrial sector has been evident, as there were royal directives to the government during the pandemic to form specialized committees to support local production, especially in food processing, medicines, and medical supplies, as well as His Majesty's visit to a number of Jordanian factories.

During the ceremony, a film was screened about investments in the industrial sector and the export and job creation opportunities it provides.
