Almamlaka _ The Director General of the Land Transport Regulatory Authority, Salah Al-Lawzi, said, on Sunday, that 57 trucks entered the Kingdom from the Jaber border crossing coming from Syria, after the shipping movement there was experimentally resumed, following its closure in mid-August, to prevent the spread of the new Corona virus.

Al-Lawzi added to the Jordan News Agency (Petra) that the majority of the trucks entering the crossing were from the 51 trucks that went to the Gulf countries, while the number of local trucks reached 6, and their goods were transported according to the back-to-back system. From its counterpart coming from Syria.

He drew attention to the fact that 17 Gulf, Syrian and Lebanese transit trucks also entered the Jaber border crossing bound for Syrian territory, stressing the need for freight drivers of various nationalities to implement what was stated in Defense Order No. 11 and not tolerate violators, especially with regard to wearing masks and gloves. , And physical distancing.

For his part, the head of the Truck Owners Syndicate, Muhammad Khair al-Daoud, estimated the losses of the sector at more than 15 million dinars since the crossing was closed in mid-August.

He stressed that resuming shipping traffic at the border crossing is "a common interest of all neighboring countries," noting that the crossing is Jordan's window to the Mediterranean.
The number of Jordanian trucks operating on the Jaber line is about 2,500 out of 22,000 local trucks, according to Al-Dawood.
