Alrai - The
head of the Jordan Chamber of Industry, Eng. Fathi Al-Jaghbir, confirmed that
Jordanian dairy companies have adopted the recent government approach to
reducing the sales tax rate on dairy items and working to reduce their prices.
He said, in a press statement
today, Wednesday, "The companies have worked to reduce the price of a milk
product by one kilogram to become 1.20 dinars instead of 1.25 dinars per kilo,
in addition to providing items at special prices to support families,
especially those with limited income."
He added that dairy companies
provide a number of their products in economic packages of 4 and 5 kilograms,
in which the price of a kilo of milk starts from 70 piasters, for example to
the final consumer, surprisingly what he called the fierce attack on these
companies.
He pointed out that dairy
companies had previously borne the burden of the tax difference of 6 percent,
which was imposed on dairy products and their derivatives in 2018, and at that
time they did not raise prices and the consumer did not bear the tax difference.
Eng. Al-Jaghbeir pointed out
that the reduction also affected many types of white cheese and soft yogurt
through promotional campaigns and competing offers to support families.
