Discussing the problems of the industrial sector in Irbid

Alrai - Representatives of industrial sectors in the Irbid governorate presented during the meeting yesterday at the headquarters of the Irbid Chamber of Industry in the director of the Directorate of Industry and Trade in the governorate the most prominent problems and obstacles facing the industrial sector.

The Chamber's vice president, Eng. Mamoun Halawa, stressed the importance of partnership and cooperation with the Ministry of Industry and Trade and its directorates in the governorates to overcome the difficulties and challenges facing the industrial sector, which is one of the most important sectors in the national economy.

And Halawa, that the industrial sector in its various forms is facing legislative, organizational and logistical problems related to the available services, hoping that the meetings with representatives of the Ministry of Industry will contribute to improving the reality of industries for the better, by increasing their competitiveness in the internal and external markets.

Representatives of a number of industrial sectors in Irbid presented the most prominent obstacles, which are a challenge and suffering to industrialists, and the most prominent of them

High energy costs and their impact on operating costs, the absence of trained workers for some industries, high fees and taxes, and instability of legislation.

They called for increasing tax exemptions for the industrial sector with the stimulus package for the sector launched by the government, and for reviewing some of the agreements signed with a number of countries that have caused the dumping of the local market with imported products and the inability of local products to compete, along with facilitating a number of measures for the sector, the most important of which is the registration of trademarks.

For his part, the director of the Directorate of Industry and Trade in Irbid, Eng. Abdul Halim Al Jamrah, stressed the Ministry of Industry’s keenness to improve the reality of the industrial sector and increase its effectiveness and its important role in providing job opportunities and reducing unemployment.

And that communication with the industrialists aims to solve the obstacles and problems presented and present them to the ministry, pointing to many of the electronic services launched by the ministry to facilitate the transactions of investors, which are to be increased during the current year.

He indicated that many proposals aimed at ensuring ease for Irbid industrialists will be studied, including providing importer card service in Al-Hassan Industrial City as an alternative to a review of the Directorate of Industry, and allocating a specialized employee to the brand.
