Alrai - The Secretary General of
the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply Youssef Al-Shamali confirmed that
the ministry has taken several measures over two years to support the bakery
sector, given the importance of providing bread to the Jordanian citizen.
And Al-Shamali stated in a statement to Al-Rai that the ministry is constantly
studying flour prices and the operational costs of bakeries based on studies
from specialized technicians from the ministry and the bakery owners union and
the flour prices are changed monthly in the light of fuel prices so that no
additional costs are arranged on bakeries and within the costing equations and
take The appropriate procedures to support the bakery sector.
He explained that the decisions issued by the Council of Ministers recently to
support bakeries, including fixing bread prices, the most recent of which was
the recent decision to stabilize prices for the end of the current year in
addition to providing cash support for stone and half-bakeries at (4 d / ton)
per month and continuing with the decision to stop licensing new bakeries.
He added that the Council of Ministers also agreed to reduce fees for renewing
work permits for the bakery sector and equating them with the agricultural
sector.
The Union of Bakeries Owners demanded during the government earlier to provide
incentives to the sector, in the forefront of which is to reduce the price of
flour provided to bakeries to ensure the continuity of this important and vital
sector.
The government implemented during the earlier decision to lift the subsidy on
bread, since the price of a kilo of large Kamaj bread without packaging became
32 piasters compared to 16 piasters, and the price of a kilo of small Kamaj
bread 40 piasters instead of 24 piasters. From 18 piasters.
