The Minister of Industry opens the fourth Silk Road conference

Alrai - A representative of His Highness Prince Al-Hussein bin Abdullah II, Crown Prince, yesterday, the Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply, Dr. Tariq Al-Hamouri, opened the Fourth Silk Road Conference organized by the Palestinian-Jordanian Business Forum in cooperation with the Jordanian Entrepreneurship and Innovation Association, under the title "Entrepreneurship in Business" and was done on the sidelines of The conference, in whose fourth edition is attended by 500 businessmen from inside and outside the Kingdom, especially Palestine, the launch of the "Delaney" initiative to network entrepreneurs with industrial and merchant business owners in partnership between the Forum and the Leadership and Creativity Society and the Amman Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The database "Business Tree" was launched in partnership with businessmen associations from Jordan, Palestine and Turkey as a first stage, in addition to displaying 20 pilot projects, beginners and advanced, and holding bilateral meetings between the participants.

Minister Al-Hamouri said during the opening of the conference, that the political and economic challenges that the international arena is witnessing and its impact on the economies of the countries of the region make it imperative for everyone to find practical mechanisms to raise the level of their economies and absorb the changes to achieve the economic and social well-being of the peoples of the region, calling for the need to work in a spirit of partnership and solidarity to avoid the region more risks And crises and transforming the mission of young people into investment opportunities in a spirit of innovation and leadership to raise the level of competition at various levels.

Al-Hammouri stressed that Jordan seeks to support the innovation system represented by institutions and the regulatory environment and unify a supportive environment for innovation, which is the capital of the future, pointing to the institutions established in the Kingdom since 1960 specialized to support education and science technology and enhance national innovation capabilities.

The Minister said that His Majesty King Abdullah II was keen to support innovation initiatives by establishing King Hussein Technology Parks as well as launching the national strategy for innovation, pointing to the preparation of the national strategy for scientific research, innovation, creativity and leadership in the Kingdom for the years 2016-2025 by the Fund for Scientific Research Support, which diagnoses The reality of scientific research in Jordan.

He added, Jordan is also keen to support the pioneers of innovation from individuals, companies and institutions, in addition to its interest in sectors that provide innovation such as the renewable energy sector, industry, transport, technology, education, health and water.

Minister Al-Hamouri said that Jordan was able to accelerate progress through innovation and finding long-term solutions, in order to lay the foundations necessary to achieve success and prosperity in the future, stressing that Jordan's strength lies in the people of its people, specifically the group of young people who represent the future of the country's digital economy.

For his part, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Jordanian-Palestinian Business Forum Eng. Nazmi Al-Atma said that the conference focuses on the importance of awareness to business owners by paying attention to the changes that affected the trade and business environment and awareness for that to face its risks and challenges.

And between the darkness, that the conference seeks to integrate ideas of leadership and innovation in the industrial, commercial and service sectors to enable and localize them and increase the added value to the national economy, pointing out that it brings together entrepreneurs with traditional business owners to benefit both parties and increase employment opportunities and enable businesses to increase competitiveness as a result of leadership and creativity.

On its level, the European Union’s ambassador to the Kingdom, Maria Had Jithiodoside, explained that “despite the challenges Jordan faces, it has managed to maintain its position as a land of stability, safety, creativity and prosperity in a troubled region.”

The Ambassador of the European Union stated that the European Union continues to support young Jordanian talents within the project to develop support for economic facilities of the European Union.

The ambassador said that the project, which was launched two years ago with the aim of investing in small companies, investing in talents and capabilities, and working to transform ambition into practical skills in order to help entrepreneurs create new ideas, to become major players in new markets.

She added that one of the Jordanian companies that were supported within the framework of training projects, technical assistance and investment planning assistance, was able to work with a new European client and also established a branch in the Gulf market, and as a result will see growth in its revenues in 2020.

For his part, General Manager of the Amazon Company in Saudi Arabia and Jordan, Salim Hammad, said that the company is the biggest success stories in the Middle East and the Arab world that have been achieved with the support of Jordanian cadres and their skills that contributed to building and developing the company's systems and provide a platform for electronic sales and has today become a global company that has strengthened its position in trade Electronic throughout the years in the region.

Hammad said that Amazon worked to provide about 800 job opportunities for Jordanians, noting that future job opportunities will only be in new sectors that are experiencing rapid growth that can accommodate generations of university graduates.

He added, that Amazon believes that electronic commerce is the future of commerce in the region with a focus on creativity and innovation at work, pointing out that leadership and excellence in the digital world seems difficult, but the formula for success in it is very simple.
