Syria removes transit fees for crossing Jordanian trucks

12-Oct-2019

Almamlaka -The Syrian government has decided to return transit fees for transit of Jordanian trucks to their pre-2003 levels, with the added fees cancelled after that year, the kingdom's correspondent in Damascus said.

The correspondent gave no further details.

Syria's Charge d'Affaires in Amman Shafiq Diop said last month that the Syrian side "wishes to unify the transit fees and procedures to facilitate the transit of Jordanian goods and products to the Syrian market; to increase the volume of trade exchange and economic cooperation between Jordan and Syria."

Transit of goods by transit , according to the Jordanian customs, is defined as the transfer of goods of foreign origin in accordance with the transit status, by entering the border to exit from the borders of others. Another way accepted by the department.
