Alrai - Umniah Company for Mobile Phones and
Jordan Electricity Company officially announced yesterday the commencement of
the activity of Jordan Fiber Optic Company (FiberTech) with a capital of JD 40
million after completing all the procedures of establishment and licensing.
The objectives of the company, the first of its kind in Jordan and the region,
to provide a new telecommunications infrastructure through the installation of
a fiber optic network (fiber) in the areas of operation of the Jordan
Electricity Company, in addition to connect smart meters and electrical network
components owned by Jordan Electricity, and will provide Internet services
High-speed wholesale for telecommunications companies and ISPs to benefit
approximately 1.3 million homes and businesses in Amman.
This came during a press conference at the Telecommunications Regulatory
Authority (TRA) during which the signing of an individual telecommunications
license was signed by the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners Dr. Ghazi
Al-Jabour, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Jordanian Fiber Optic
Company (Othman Bedair) and the CEO of Umniah Eng. cleverness.
FiberTech is a joint venture between Jordan Electricity Company (51%) and
Umniah (49%), which was established in February 2019 to provide a new
infrastructure to provide high-speed Internet services to approximately 1.3

Jabour said that one of the most important challenges facing fiber services is
the agreements that municipalities require when delivering this service to
their areas, pointing out that each municipality has new demands different from
the other, which is an obstacle to the spread of this service.
Jabour pointed out during the press conference the importance of the decision
to grant the company the individual license, which is characterized by the
quality of services that the company intends to provide, and the expected
geographical spread, which will contribute to the deployment of high-speed
Internet services using fiber-optic cables and in all areas to which the Jordan
Electricity Company.
He expected these services to contribute to increase the added value of
economic and investment activities and provide advanced services to
beneficiaries and all segments of society.
For his part, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Jordanian Fiber
Optic Company (FiberTech), Osman Bedair, considered the company as a quality
addition to the Jordanian market and for the individual and corporate
subscribers, where the fiber-optic network (Fiber) will enable them to access
the Internet at high speeds and great reliability, making it easier for them

He explained that the new company will start drilling and implementation of the
extension of fiber-optic (fiber) network and the deployment of high-speed
Internet services in the capital Amman from the region of Tabarbour, Al-Baraka
and Al-Khaldi, while providing services to the rest of the regions in
accordance with a plan prepared in advance.
He expressed his hope that the company will be an active supporter of the
government plans to accelerate the process of digital transformation in the
Kingdom in various types of life applications, pointing out that the new
company will provide hundreds of direct and indirect employment opportunities,
and enhance Jordan's position in terms of digital readiness and e-transactions
worldwide.
Bedair stressed that the company will achieve significant financial and moral
returns for its investors and partners, and the national economy in general
through the application of an advanced business model that integrates the
energy and telecommunications sectors, in addition to revolutionizing the
billing process and strengthening the capacity of the Jordan Electricity Company
in maintaining the continuity of electricity delivery to subscribers.
In turn, Chairman of the Jordan Electricity Company, Issam Bedair, said, “We
look forward with hope and optimism, through this pioneering project, to
continue and enhance the march of our company, which was launched since 1938 in
the service of the nation and the citizen, and to improve our services and
achieve great value and benefits for the company's subscribers, shareholders

covering the entire service areas of the Jordan Electricity Company in order to
provide advanced communications services for those who want, in addition to
