Alrai ــــ The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has issued 11
tenders for the installation of solar cell systems connected with the grid /
phase II, to the homes of beneficiaries of the National Aid Fund located inside
and outside the boundaries of the organization, funded by the Rural Fils
Account, to reduce the burden on these families.
Minister of Energy and
Mineral Resources Hala Zawati said in a press statement yesterday that the
number of beneficiaries of this stage is 3166 households, whose monthly
consumption of electricity is less than 300 kWh.
She stressed the
importance of the project in reducing the value of the monthly bill of the
beneficiary families, and contribute to poverty alleviation by bearing the cost
of installing solar cell systems for the target groups, which contributes
indirectly to increase the monthly income of this category and improve their
economic level.
She stressed the
importance of the project to expand the use of renewable energy and provide the
network with new capacities to reduce the cost of energy and the cost of
subsidies provided to these families on the electricity bill.
She explained that the
project comes within the framework of the ministry's efforts to spread the
culture of rationalizing energy consumption and benefit from sustainable clean
energy by exploiting local energy sources and enhancing their contribution to
the total energy mix, in addition to the benefit achieved by the project to
provide more jobs for Jordanians.
For his part, Director
of Rural Fils Eng. Ziad Al-Sa'ayda said that the number of beneficiaries of the
first phase of the project amounted to 2213 families, while the number of
beneficiaries of the second phase is 3166 families, to reach 100,000 families
benefiting from the National Aid Fund in various governorates of the Kingdom,
with a capacity of Connected power on the grid is estimated at about 200 MW
peak.
Regarding the details
of the project, Sa'aida said that the Rural Fils Directorate in the Ministry of
Energy finances the installation of solar cell systems with a capacity of 2 kW
for the houses of the chaste families and the houses of the beneficiaries of the
National Aid Fund, which is served by electricity. 300 kWh), and has space to
build the solar system.
He said that the
applications are submitted through the main offices of the Rural Fils
Directorate in the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and its branch
offices or through the website of the ministry.
Regarding the
conditions of benefit, he said that it stipulates that the average monthly
consumption of the beneficiary does not exceed (300) kWh. For the 12 months
preceding the application of this service, except for the central, northern and
southern Jordan Valley and Aqaba Governorate, where the monthly consumption
rate is taken during the period from November to April.
The Ministry of Energy
and Mineral Resources recently referred 12 tenders to seven local companies
selected from 23 bidders for the implementation of the first phase of the
project to install solar cell systems to generate electricity for the homes of
2213 families benefiting from the National Aid Fund in various governorates of
the Kingdom at a cost of 2.446 million dinars Ministry.
It is expected that the
project will include 12 thousand families in 2019 in various governorates of
the Kingdom out of about 100,000 families will be covered successively over
several years.
