Prime Minister Dr. Omar Razzaz announced that the Cabinet decided to
instruct the Jordan Industrial Estates Company to reduce the sale prices and
rent allowances in the new industrial cities in the governorates of Tafila,
Madaba and Al-Salt.
Razzaz explained that the
rates of reduction range from 30 to 80 percent of land prices, and for the
first 15 industrial investment companies applying for purchase in each city,
and for the first five dunums, in addition to the reduction of rent allowances
for industrial buildings ready, and rates ranging from 40 to 70 percent at a
cost of 7 million dinars It shall be borne by the Government as the General
Assembly of the Industrial Estates Company.
During his participation in an
evening session within the conference of Jordanian businessmen and investors
abroad on «industrial cities, developmental, private and free zones and their
role in attracting Jordanian investments», the Prime Minister stressed the
keenness to benefit industrial cities in the governorates more than the
decision, which hopes to contribute to attract more Of investments that
generate employment for Jordanian youth. The Prime Minister called on
Jordanian businessmen abroad to review this decision and its positive aspects
to invest in industrial cities. The directive of the Council
of Ministers aims to enhance the competitive advantage of industrial cities in
these governorates and increase their ability to attract industrial investment,
as a catalyst for industrial investments in these cities, which contributes in
providing jobs for the people of those governorates and stimulate the
industrial, commercial and urban movement.
The directive of the Council
of Ministers for Industrial Estates provided a basis for the number of
Jordanian employees registered in the social security since the beginning of
the investment and until the acquisition of the land to 10 employees, so that
the percentage of Jordanian workers in projects benefiting from it at least 80
percent of the total number of workers.
It is noteworthy that the
establishment of new industrial cities in Madaba, Tafila and Al-Salt, which
came as a commitment from the government to contribute to the development of
the provinces and provide employment opportunities, the process of development
is nearing completion.
