Alghad ــــ A
well-informed source said that the transfer of Iraqi oil through tankers to the
Kingdom will begin next weekend, after ending all financial matters between the
parties.
The source
said, in response to a question for "tomorrow" yesterday, that the
parties in the stage of final arrangements for the transfer process, which will
be through the Iraqi Oil Marketing Company to the oil refinery.
In February, Jordan and Iraq signed an
agreement that includes the purchase of 10,000 barrels of crude oil a day,
which constitutes 7% of the Kingdom's needs based on the average price of Brent
crude per month minus $ 16 per barrel is the difference in transport costs and
specification teams.
The same
source said that the transport will be at the rate of 10 thousand barrels per
day to be transferred equally by using Jordanian and Iraqi tanks.
Last month,
the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources transferred the tender for the
transfer of crude oil from Baiji in Iraq to the Zarqa oil refinery, which is
half a million tons, on Nael Al-Thiabat & Partners Co. (Al-Hayat
Transport).
At that time, The most appropriate
"financial offer between three companies qualified for the tender, which
was announced earlier.
The ministry
has previously confirmed that this oil will be refined in the form of oil
derivatives and will have no relation to the production of electricity, which
is currently either using natural gas or renewable energy, and that traditional
fuel is not currently used in electricity generation.
The source pointed out that the tankers will
be transported directly from Baiji to the site of the oil refinery in Zarqa for
the first time, while the transfer of oil, before stopping on the background of
political and security events in Iraq, is through the exchange of back to back
in the free zone between the two countries.
The
Jordanian oil refinery received a sample of Kirkuk oil and tested it, which
confirms the ability of the refinery to deal with the quantities offered by
this type and refining it, according to its Chief Executive Engineer Abdul
Karim Alawen earlier that the refinery was receiving the same quality Until
2013 before the deterioration of the security situation in Iraq and quantities
were up to 15 thousand barrels per day and were all replicated at the time to
derivatives according to the need of the market.
At the same time, in the
fields of energy, Jordan and Iraq are completing the necessary procedures for
the construction of an oil pipeline running from Basra through Hadith and then
to the port of Aqaba.
The Iraqi Council of Ministers has recently
agreed to proceed with the pipeline project pending the signing of a framework
agreement between the two countries according to the Ministry of Energy and
Mineral Resources, except for the project to establish a network of electrical
connection between the two countries.
