17-Jul-2019

Alrai ــــ A source familiar with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources intends to establish modern stations to store the quantities of electricity surplus from the need of the Kingdom.

The source, who asked not to be identified, said: "What is the capacity of these stations and their construction sites?"

The source pointed out that the current storage plants are unable to absorb the amount of excess electricity.

The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Hala Zwati agreed through her account on the social networking site Twitter, one of the activists in his view that social responsibility requires the producers of electricity from solar energy, especially the major producers who use the electrical network of storage to pay for this service.

Jordan has agreed with Iraq recently to feed the Iraqi grid electricity from Jordan, according to a timetable starting in 2021, which requires the government to establish storage stations for the surplus for the purposes of export of electricity.

For his part, said energy expert Hashim Akl that the excessive production of electricity double error in the absence of redundant power storage stations so Jordan can re-export.

Akel said that electricity consumption is at peak time, while the amount of consumption decreases throughout the night, which means the availability of large amounts of surplus electricity can be exported to other countries.

He pointed to the electrical connection with Syria and Iraq, stressing that the government to establish stations to strengthen and store electricity surplus from the need of the Kingdom.
