The total public debt till the end of May was 29.26 billion
dinars, an increase of 955.9 million dinars from the same month last year, by
3.38%, according to the
monthly bulletin of the Ministry of Finance issued on Monday.
Total public debt stood at 94.6% of GDP estimated for the end of
May, compared to 94.4% for the same period last year.
External debt reached 12.2 billion dinars, while the internal
public debt of the central government 17.06 billion dinars.
The fiscal deficit in the general budget after grants in the
first five months of this year about 483.5 million dinars, compared to a deficit
of 435.1 million dinars in the same period last year.
Local Revenue
Domestic revenues increased by KD 96.4 million in the first five
months of this year compared to the same period last year, recording KD 3.029
billion.
The Ministry of Finance attributed the rise to an increase in
non-tax revenues by KD 162.3 million.
Tax revenues recorded a decrease of JD65.8 million due to the
increase in the general tax on income and profits by KD 46.4 million and the
decrease in the general tax on goods and services by KD 97.9 million.
In addition to a decrease in the proceeds of
taxes on financial transactions (property sales tax) by about 9.3 million
dinars.
External grants from the beginning of this year to May amounted
to 90.5 million dinars, compared to 77.9 million dinars during the first five
months of last year.
Total expenditure
The expenditure of the first five months of this year amounted
to about 3.603 billion dinars, compared to 3.446 billion dinars during the same
period of this year, an increase of 4.6%.
The ministry attributed the expenditure to a rise in current
expenditure by 164.5 million dinars, while capital expenditure decreased by
about 7.1 million dinars.
