"The total amount of drugs that have been reduced so far has reached nearly 800 pharmaceuticals, while the price of medicines is being reduced further in the coming period," said Dr. Hail Obeidat, director general of the Food and Drug Administration. 

He added that the Foundation is following the implementation of new prices after the amendment, especially with regard to the speed of procedures in the market in light of the existence of some logistical difficulties that relate to the geographical dimension specifically, stressing that the cadres of the institution is in the market around the clock to ensure the offer of medicines At the new reduced prices, stressing that the institution has addressed all the bidding parties of health institutions and major hospitals to circulate the new prices. 

Obeidat said that the prices and high prices of medicines is a global problem plaguing many countries of the world. There are 43 US states that objected to the high prices of medicine from international companies and filed lawsuits, while Jordan applies an advanced model through the pricing of medicines by the General Food and Drug Administration With medicine not on the basis that it is a commodity whose prices are subject to supply and demand, but as a commodity that is priced exclusively by the enterprise. 

And Obeidat, that the institution and despite the limited cadres work double efforts, to do its duty to the fullest, stressing that the institution needs more staff to help them cover all regions of the Kingdom. 

He explained that more than 800 varieties have been reduced so far include life medications and chronic diseases and medical supplies and networks of heart, indicating that heart networks alone included about 80 varieties. 

Obaidat predicted that the number of pharmaceutical items to be reduced between drugs and salts in the next two weeks will reach more than 1,000 drug varieties, which will reach the new prices within two weeks. Obaidat said that the institution has recently started applying new regulations to reduce the prices of medicines. It has introduced a discount on the original drug at the time of registration of its first nationality and by 15%. It also introduced a discount on the drug when it entered the tenders and the medicines by 10% positively. 

He added that the institution has also introduced the system «Patient's right to access medicine», a global program allows private medical institutions and public to get samples of life drugs after buying a quantity of the same drug, but these samples acted through the control and follow-up of the General Food and Drug Authority to ensure access These medicines are for the benefit of patients based on criteria set by the institution. 

He pointed out that the pricing mechanism is governed by the law of medicine and pharmacy through the pricing committee and the pricing department in the institution and is shared by all official sectors and academics. The mechanism employs more than 91% of the countries of the world. . 

Obeidat pointed out that all medicines whose prices exceed 150 dinars will be put a lump sum and not a profit rate, indicating that the General Organization for Food and Drug is the one that puts this amount on each drug class. 

Obeidat added that the work is under way in the institution to review many applications to ensure that the citizen get a better price, and there is coordination and contacts with the Office of the World Health Organization in Amman and Geneva to help the Foundation through the use of several programs and global systems.
