The Land Transport Regulatory Authority announced that the fees for
transporting goods have been amended to become in accordance with a guiding
regulation issued by the authority similar to the applicable transportation
fees regulations approved by the Ministry of Industry and Trade (supply tender).
The authority said in a press statement, today, Tuesday, that the new wages
come after the Minister of Transport approved recommendations that were agreed
upon during a meeting held with the Truck Owners Syndicate, in the presence of
the Minister of Transport, Maher Abu Al-Samen, and the Minister of Interior,
Mazen Al-Faraya, yesterday, Monday.
The recent agreement included adding an amount of one and a half dinars per ton
to the transportation fees for phosphate, potash and sulfur, and raising the
container shipping price to 500 dinars instead of 448 dinars, up to the weight
of 25 tons per container on the Amman-Aqaba axis.
The authority confirmed that the new wages are subject to the fuel pricing
equation, whether it increases or decreases, as of the beginning of next year.
She pointed out that work with the new wages will start from tomorrow morning,
Wednesday, noting that, based on the aforementioned agreement, she will form a
committee that includes all concerned parties to discuss a number of challenges
facing the transport sector.
