Unions, unions, associations and
private agricultural institutions demanded that the government impose a transit
tax on Syrian agricultural products passing through other countries through
transit through Jordanian territory on the basis of reciprocity.
In a joint statement issued on Saturday, the agricultural institutions pointed
out that the Syrian government imposed transit fees on the Jordanian products
received at (1400-2000) dollars per shipment and according to the distance travelled
within Syrian territory.
And demanded that Jordanian exported products be given priority for the
national carrier so that the products imported by the transit to the Gabber
Border Center will not be transferred to Jordanian products.
The statement was signed by the trade unions: "Agricultural
Engineers", veterinarians, traders, exporters of vegetables and fruits,
traders and producers of agricultural materials, Union of Jordan Valley Farmers,
Jordanian Association of Exporters of Vegetables and Fruits, Jordan Dates
Association, Jordanian Association of Olive Exporters and Exporters.
