Demanding a "Transit" Tax on Syrian Agricultural Products is Reciprocated

16-Jun-2019

Unions, unions, associations and private agricultural institutions demanded that the government impose a transit tax on Syrian agricultural products passing through other countries through transit through Jordanian territory on the basis of reciprocity.

In a joint statement issued on Saturday, the agricultural institutions pointed out that the Syrian government imposed transit fees on the Jordanian products received at (1400-2000) dollars per shipment and according to the distance travelled within Syrian territory.

And demanded that Jordanian exported products be given priority for the national carrier so that the products imported by the transit to the Gabber Border Center will not be transferred to Jordanian products.

The statement was signed by the trade unions: "Agricultural Engineers", veterinarians, traders, exporters of vegetables and fruits, traders and producers of agricultural materials, Union of Jordan Valley Farmers, Jordanian Association of Exporters of Vegetables and Fruits, Jordan Dates Association, Jordanian Association of Olive Exporters and Exporters.
