The director of the Food and Drug Administration, Hail Obeidat,
said on Saturday that work will begin on the new prices of medicine within 10
days, adding that there will be teams to follow up the application of
pharmacies and warehouses for new prices.
He added in a statement to the "Kingdom": after 10
days will be punished who does not apply the new prices where there
will be a tightening of control, and the violator will be transferred to the
Attorney General and closure.

of 1127 medicines, and 89 medical professionals ranged between 16 - 63%, noting
that there are some drugs were reduced by 10% and a few.
"Drugs included in the price
reduction include local and imported medicines," according to Obaidat.
His Majesty King Abdullah II directed the government
last Tuesday to take immediate action to reduce the prices of medicines. "When
it comes to the health of the Jordanians and their duty, what is in a
compliment," he said.
And Obaidat that there is a meeting of the
Foundation and the Pharmacists Syndicate Sunday, to agree on the instructions
and the joint teams that will be in the field for follow-up and so on.
He pointed out that the Syndicate Council of Pharmacies and
Associations are cooperating with the Foundation to implement the new
instructions and prices.
"The institution will issue every day a list of prices of
new drugs that will be applied until the completion of all drugs sold in the
markets," said Obaidat.
Obeidat pointed out that the Foundation will send prices to the
Sayadiya Syndicate, which will distribute them to pharmacies, warehouses and
associations to work on them.
"What matters to the institution is that if the citizen
goes to the market, the drug will be available to him," according to
Obaidat.
Obaidat said that the issuance of lists now to facilitate and
accelerate procedures where the pharmacist starts in the stage of change in
prices and application is after 10 days; because there are logistical
procedures.
The Jordanian pharmaceutical market is worth $ 1.3 billion.
Jordan spends more than 3% of the GDP on medicines, while Jordan's exports to
the pharmaceutical sector are about $ 800 million, according to Obaidat.
