al-Hammouri said that the economic situation is improving, although at the
current stage it is not immediate and significant after the difficulties faced
by the Jordanian economy, especially during the last four years, which was
difficult.
Al-Hamouri said during a meeting held at the headquarters of the Chamber of
Industry of Irbid, headed by Hani Abu Hassan and members of the General
Assembly of the Chamber, in the presence of the head of Jordan Chamber of
Industry Fathi Al-Jaghbir. Public and private sectors and exploitation of
opportunities.
He pointed out that 40% of the Kingdom's debt of about 28 billion dinars was
not related to Jordan, but exacerbated by the regional and international
circumstances surrounding the past years.
He pointed out that the volume of exports rose during the first quarter of this
year about 9.3%, pointing out the possibility of reaching a greater increase
through better utilization of international conventions, especially the
simplification of the rules of origin, under which Jordan enjoys great
privileges.
He called on the industrial sector to distribute its exports to countries to
achieve better positive repercussions for the sector, pointing to the need to
invest open the Iraqi market for Jordanian products.
The minister stressed the government's readiness to cancel the decision to
prevent the importation of Syrian industrial products directly in the event of
a similar decision by the Syrian side allowing Jordanian products to enter
Syria, pointing out that the government tried for months before the issuance of
the ban decision understanding with the Syrian side on this without success.
He explained that the cancellation of the trade agreement with Turkey was the
result of the failure of the Convention for the positive objectives of Jordan,
where the difference in exports about 800 million dollars for Turkey, which is
understood by the Turkish side.
He pointed to the formation of the ministry of joint sectoral committees with
different industrial sectors aimed at solving any problems facing these sectors
and identify them, stressing that these committees have been able during the
last period to resolve many of the problems in this aspect and identify other
problems, mostly procedural action is being resolved, Instructions contrary to
the law.
Al-Hamouri stressed the government's continuous efforts to find creative
solutions to the problem of rising energy costs and its impact on the
industrial sector, pointing to the formation of a government committee with the
participation of the private sector for this purpose.
He stressed that it is not allowed to continue distorting the expatriate labor
within the Kingdom and continue to deal with it through cooperation with the
private sector in the field of training and rehabilitation of local labor, as
well as the need to make formal and voluntary efforts to encourage young people
to work professionally.
On the amendments to the Law on Chambers of Industry, Hamouri revealed the
possibility of discussing the amendment in the House of Representatives soon.
For his part, the head of the Jordan Chamber of Industry Fathi al-Jaghbir,
stressed the importance of communication and partnership with the government to
solve the problems of the industrial sector, which is one of the largest
manpower operators and a major contributor to national income.
A joint committee of industrial chambers and the government was formed to
arrange an industrial conference in the Kingdom next October to discuss the
problems of the industrial sector and develop practical solutions to them.
The Chairman of the Chamber of Industry of Abu Dhabi Hani Abu Hassan
highlighted the problems of the industrial sector represented by high energy
prices, the lack of skilled labor for some professions, high taxes and fees,
the instability of legislation and reconsideration of some international
agreements, as well as the administrative restrictions imposed by some
countries associated with Jordan agreements and their negative impact on the
sector Industrial.
He pointed out that these problems affect the competitiveness of national
industries and give an advantage to imported goods to rival local.
Abu Hassan appreciated his Majesty's efforts to open new markets and sign
agreements to increase Jordanian exports. The most important of these is the
simplification of the rules of origin agreement with the European Union, as
well as the exemption of Jordanian goods and the entry of trucks to Iraq.
The Minister of Industry and Trade toured a number of factories in the city of
Hassan Industrial and heard from those responsible for the most prominent
obstacles facing them.
