$ 2 million damage in "Syrian Jordanian Free"

The Jordanian-Syrian free zone joint venture company, Khalid Al-Rahahleh, estimated the amount of damage to the region caused by the sabotage operations in the region in 2015 at about $ 2 million.

The Jordanian-Syrian free zone between Jordan and Syria in 2015 witnessed incursions by Syrian gunmen, forcing Jordanian investors to leave, creating a state of fear and panic in the region, while the process of removing goods and property from this area was stopped completely. Al-Rahaleh said that the company entered the region at the end of last March.

It was the first time after its closure, and after it started to evaluate the damage done by a specialized committee of the company. He explained that the committee is in the final stages of limiting the damage and the development of a plan to rehabilitate and return the company to the past in terms of infrastructure, which includes water, wells, electricity, sewage and roads, in addition to administrative buildings and furniture.

He explained that the committee will submit to the Board of Directors the rehabilitation plan in the next few weeks for approval and then work on the implementation, noting that the company in conjunction with the rehabilitation will invite investors to also carry out the process of re-processing their projects.

Al Rahaleh expected that the rehabilitation process will be completed and return to its race within two months if the rehabilitation plan is approved by the company's board of directors, indicating that the redevelopment and construction of the area will be financed by the company without any financial costs.

He explained that the principle of the company's work is to develop and provide infrastructure and work to delay the land for up to 25 years for the industrial sector and 15 years for the commercial sector, noting that the area of the free zone up to 6,500 acres.

He pointed out that the total leases in various sectors before the security chaos in the region ranged between 550 and 600 contracts, while the volume of goods entering the region about 5 million tons worth up to 5 billion dollars.

It is noteworthy that the company is one of the fruits of the joint economic cooperation between the two countries and has contributed since the practice of its actual work in 2000 at its current headquarters (Jaber-Naseeb) in attracting investments from both countries and sisterly and friendly countries in various commercial, industrial and service sectors and activating the role of sectors supporting the investment process , Clearance).

The company's registered capital is one million dinars with two equal shares between the two countries, while the general assembly of the company consists of the two countries, in addition to the membership of the Jordanian Minister of Industry,

Trade and Supply and Minister of Economy.It should be noted that Jordan recognizes the session of the Presidency of the Board of Directors of the company from the beginning of the current year; where was appointed Secretary General of the Ministry of Industry,

Trade and Supply Yusuf North for this position. Foreign trade figures show Jordan's exports to Syria increased by 60 percent to 12 million dinars compared to 7.5 million dinars in the first quarter of this year compared to the same period last year.
