03-حزيران-2019

"The demand for cement over the past five months has fallen about 7 percent compared to the levels of 2018," said Mansour Al Banna, president of the Cement Traders Association.

He added in a press statement Sunday that the local market consumed about 1.1 million tons during the previous months, while the consumption rate for the last year and the same period was about 1.8 million tons of the total production of all cement factories operating in the Kingdom and the capacity of production is about 25 thousand tons daily.

For his part, Al Banna explained that the decision to dissolve the Board of Directors of the Investors Association of the housing sector has led many investors in the sector to refrain from opening new projects compared to last year.

He pointed out that the housing sector is one of the leading sectors of the sectors of iron and cement, as we are sectors supporting the housing sector, we are negatively or positively affected by any decisions taken for or against the housing sector.

He pointed out that the average daily consumption during the period before the dissolution of the Board of Directors of the Assembly was about six thousand tons per day decreased after the resolution of the solution and the reluctance of investors to open new housing projects to about four thousand tons a day and most of the withdrawals currently by traders and these withdrawals are storage and not directed to implement projects, Pointing out that the stock of traders is large.

He pointed out that the average price of cement ton for all projects around the Kingdom currently ranges between 100 to 105 dinars per ton for all projects with a slight difference, depending on the proximity or after the project as a pay difference transfer fees, and the average price of the factory land currently around 95 dinars per ton.

He stressed the importance of revitalizing the housing sector, where traders rely on this sector to stimulate other economic sectors supporting him, the most important sectors of iron and cement.

The number of cement factories operating in the Kingdom is five factories. It is a factory of the Jordanian Lafarge Cement Company and three Saudi factories, in addition to Al-Manaseer plant.

The production capacity of these factories is estimated at 7.5 million tons per year while the actual need of cement is about 4.5 million tons annually.
