The Standards and Metrology Organization has circulated the
chambers of commerce and industry to identify the objection to the decisions of
the institution regarding the destruction of goods or not to enter them only
once and within a specified time period.
The circular stipulates that the objections shall not exceed
three months from the date of the final decision in the concerned customs centres
and for one time only.
The Director-General of the Standards and Metrology
Organization, Engineer Rola Madanat, said that this action was for regulatory
purposes and to limit the recurrence of objections to the same goods and refer
to decisions taken over long periods on imported goods or manufactured locally.
Madanat explained in
a statement to "Al Ghad" that the Foundation has noticed the
submission of objections from the owners and has been a long time, arrived in
some transactions for more than 9 years, and the violation is explicit and
constitutes a real danger to the health of citizens, That such transactions are
duly settled and eventually lead to legal action such as referral to the
Prosecutor or blacklisting.
Keenness to apply the
principle of transparency and partnership with the relevant parties, indicating
that the Foundation does not prevent any parties to submit their objection to
the decision taken, noting that the Foundation receives daily more than 30
objections to the decisions taken. She explained that the repeated submission
of applications for objection to the same goods has become a burden on the
employees of the institution to no avail, especially for the requests on which
a decision has been taken for a long time.

efficient, who are familiar with all the details and make the appropriate
decision according to the law of the establishment and the related work instructions
and the technical specifications / rules of the product.

results. And stressed that the institution will not consider any objection
filed after more than 3 months, in order to avoid taking any subsequent actions
against importers may harm them in the event of non-compliance with the
decision of the institution.s a governmental institution with financial and
administrative independence, the Standards and Metrology Institution was
established by the Law of Standards and Metrology Institution No. 15 of 1994,
which was later amended by Law No. 22 of 2000.
The organization's activity is to adopt a national system of
standards and standards, in accordance with international practice, and to keep
abreast of the scientific development in the fields of specifications,
measurements, conformity assessment and laboratory accreditation, and to
provide health and environmental protection and public safety to citizens by
ensuring that the products conform to the technical rules adopted by the
institution and ensure quality National products by adopting appropriate
Jordanian standards.
