The representative of the food industry in the Chamber of Industry of Jordan, Mohammed Walid Al-Jitan, to protect the national dairy industry in light of the unfair competition in the local market. During the meeting with the Minister of Agriculture and Environment Ibrahim Al-Shahaheda yesterday attended by a number of representatives of local dairy factories and Director General of Chamber of Industry Jordan, the challenges and difficulties facing the local dairy industry, the most important of which is the general tax on the sales of dairy products from milk and cheese and white and cooked eggs and imposed by 10% in addition to the sales tax on the inputs of animal feed industry and estimated rates 10% and other taxes which lead to increase the production of dairy products costs, except for the high production suffered by the dairy sector represented the costs of energy and fresh milk and high feed prices and other costs. 

He also discussed the unfair competition faced by national dairy products, especially from dairy imports from Arab countries and other countries, whose countries are characterized by low production costs. It also does not apply the Jordanian specifications that require the use of fresh milk in dairy products of milk and cheese. 

He noted that the small domestic market with surplus production of national companies threatens many of these companies to stop work if continued high production costs in conjunction with the increase in imports. 

The Minister of Agriculture promised to stand by the dairy sector and solve all the problems and difficulties that are facing in order to maintain the continuity of this vital sector, which directly affects the local consumer. Dairy products are considered the main commodities of the Jordanian table.
