Minister of Industry, Trade and
Supply Dr. Tarik said that the Syrian side imposed restrictions on Jordanian
goods by 100 percent, pointing out that 40 percent of the Jordanian goods were
prevented from entering Syria and 60 percent were entered with permits and
licenses in advance.
He said that the Syrian side began to impose restrictions on Jordanian goods
since last October and during the last period the official authorities
continued to communicate with the Syrian brothers to remove these restrictions,
but we did not see a response to that.
"We began imposing similar restrictions on Syrian goods entering Jordan,
but less than those imposed by the Syrian side," he told Petra on Tuesday
evening.
The minister pointed out that the decision to ban the import of some goods from
Syria came within the framework of the periodic review carried out by the
Ministry of trade exchanges with all countries, in the interest of the public
in the light of the treatment received by Jordanian goods exported to some markets.
