The Chamber of Industry of Amman increased during the first
quarter of this year by 16.5 percent compared with the same period last year,
driven by the stability in the region.
According to statistical data, the Chamber's exports during
the first quarter of this year amounted to 164.1 billion dollars compared to
999 million dinars for the same period last year 2018.
Five Arab and foreign countries accounted for most of the
Chamber's exports during the first quarter of this year at a value of 693
million dinars.
And came the introduction of these countries India 198
million dinars, Saudi Arabia 145 million and the United States of America 123
million and Palestine 118 million and then Iraq worth 109 million dinars.
He attributed the increase in exports to the stability of
the political situation in the region, the improvement of non-traditional
markets and the strong growth in the exports of six industrial sectors, most
notably metallurgical, chemical and food.
He pointed out that the performance of the Chamber's exports
in general is improving despite the difficulties faced by the sectors with high
energy use especially plastic industries, and expressed the hope that the
period of anticipation for the flow of Jordanian goods and products to the
Iraqi market.
Al-Husami told Petra that there has been a gradual
improvement in truck traffic to Jordan and Iraq in both directions.
The Chamber's exports during the first quarter of this year
were on the sectors of mining industries worth 363 million dinars, chemicals and
cosmetics 254 million dinars, and therapeutic and medical supplies 129 million
dinars.
The exports of the sectors of food, food, agricultural and
livestock industries worth 119 million dinars, leather and softeners 107
million dinars, engineering and electrical and information technology 88
million. The rest of the exports went to the sectors of packaging, paper,
cardboard and office supplies for 50 million dinars, plastic and rubber 37
million, construction 12 million and finally the wood and furniture sector
worth 4 million dinars.
