On Sunday morning, Prime Minister Bishr
Al-Khasawneh sponsored the opening of the first Arab Summit on Entrepreneurship
under the title: "Opportunities Crossing Borders", on behalf of HRH
Prince Al-Hussein bin Abdullah II, Crown Prince.
The summit, which is the first of its kind and is
organized by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia
(ESCWA) in cooperation with the Jordan Enterprise Development Corporation, aims
to bring together various official and private bodies in various Arab countries
in a meeting to help Arab small and medium enterprises to access regional and
international markets.
It also aims, according to a statement by the
Jordan Foundation for the Development of Economic Projects, issued on Monday,
to deal with various sources of funding, benefit from regional and
international networks, and increase their ability to expand, in light of the
challenges these projects have faced in recent years, and it has become
necessary to overcome them by providing new opportunities. and put these
projects on a path of growth and prosperity.
The summit, which is expected to be attended by a
number of directors of international and regional institutions in the Middle
East, serves as a platform for local and international decision-makers from the
public and private sectors to support the development of comprehensive policies
and strategies required to support Arab small and medium-sized companies.
The themes of the summit focus on discussing
"opportunities beyond borders", through sub-topics that will be
presented over 3 days, including market access opportunities, global value
chains, financial opportunities, green growth, digitalization and innovation.
It is noteworthy that the United Nations Economic
and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) invited nearly 600 participants
from various Arab countries and international institutions including
entrepreneurs, business investors,
economists, intergovernmental bodies and organizations,
non-governmental organizations and donors to discuss regional and international
business opportunities for small businesses. and the Arab Medium School through
20 main sessions of international speakers and 10 side workshops organized by
regional institutions.
