Speaker of the House of
Representatives Eng. Atef Al-Tarawneh affirmed that the House of Representatives
will support any step on the way to put the Jordanian technical, administrative
and economic capabilities in the hands of the Iraqi brothers, a target and a
target in their support to complete their march towards development and
construction.
Al-Tarawneh said during the sponsorship of the Jordanian-Iraqi Parliamentary
Forum «Towards Broad Prospects for Economic Integration», which is organized by
the Parliamentary Committee on Economy and Investment that Jordan and Iraq have
made important strides on the way to rooting relations between them to serve
the two peoples.
He added that the tangible and accelerated progress in the relations between
the two countries is pushing us as parliamentarians to continue efforts to
create an appropriate environment for the wheel of signed agreements. Or those
in the process of agreement between Jordan and Iraq.
He pointed out that the tasks before the two sides need to unite and build
unified positions, with which we will overcome obstacles and overcome
difficulties on the path of achieving economic integration.
He added: Iraq has suffered long hands of misguided sins, terrorism was hit by

Abdullah II during his speech at the Arab summit in Tunis.
He pointed out that the new openness in the Jordanian-Iraqi relations was the
result of the efforts of the leaders of the two countries and a true embodiment
of the will of the two peoples. The economic agreements that have been resumed
between the governments of the two countries are only the form of long-standing
relations.
He stressed the importance of the forum in achieving economic integration
between the two countries, pointing out that Jordan has economic and commercial
experiences and young energies armed with science and knowledge, which
qualifies it to provide its expertise to Iraqi brothers in various fields on
the road to reconstruction.
"The relations between the two countries are of a strategic nature based
on mutual respect and have a historical dimension, which makes each country an
economic depth of the other country," said the head of the parliamentary
committee for economy and investment, MP Kheir Abu Saeleik.
He added that the initiative of the Committee on Economy and Investment in both
countries to establish the Jordanian-Iraqi Parliamentary Forum comes within the
framework of strengthening the relations of cooperation between the two
countries, stressing that the visit of His Majesty King Abdullah II to Baghdad
is a strong witness to the deep brotherly relationship between the two
countries and support for the idea of economic cooperation and integration
between them.
In turn, Chairman of the Committee on Economy and Investment in the Iraqi
Council of Representatives MP Hassan al-Kanani on the depth of relations
between the two brotherly countries, especially brotherly relations,
humanitarian and geographical, pointing to the importance of agreements signed
between the two countries to open broad prospects for cooperation between the
two countries in all fields to reach economic integration.
He pointed out that the volume of Jordanian exports to Iraq until 2003 was 150
million US dollars, while in 2008 the rate of increase was 99%, which is
equivalent to one billion and a half billion US dollars, a continuous increase,
reaching in 2013 5 billion US dollars, That in the last 3 years and the result
of Iraqi circumstances in the fight against terrorism since 2014, the trade
exchange between the two countries has been affected.
He stressed that through the legislative and oversight role in the Iraqi
parliament, the Parliamentary Committee on Economy and Investment will seek to
support any endeavor that promotes the establishment of economic integration
between Jordan and Iraq.
The Jordanian ambassador in Baghdad, Dr. Montaser Al-Aqla, referred to the
royal efforts in strengthening economic and trade relations with Iraq and
reaching important agreements and understandings to strengthen these relations.
In turn, the Charge d'Affaires of the Iraqi Embassy in Amman, Khalid
Al-Kharbani, pointed out that the bilateral relations witnessed a qualitative
leap at various levels, and this is reflected in the frequent visits and
meetings between the officials of the two countries.
The two Iraqi MPs, Falah al-Khafaji and Ali Saadoun, stressed the importance of
the agreements and understandings signed between the two countries in building
distinguished relations and achieving economic integration that serves both
countries.
He said: "Achievement requires real will, which is now felt on the ground
through meetings and continuous visits between officials of the two brotherly
countries, which brought the two countries to agreements of very important
economic and trade.
Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Dr. Tareq Al-Hammouri affirmed the real
will of the two countries to achieve tangible progress in enhancing their
relations in various fields, especially economic and trade. He pointed out that
the signed agreements between the two countries include mutual benefits for
both countries and their results will be positively reflected on the two
peoples.
The minister pointed out that the establishment of a joint industrial zone on
the border between the two countries aims to strengthen economic cooperation in
various fields, especially trade and investment.
He said that the achievement achieved between the two countries confirms the
great desire of the two countries to enhance cooperation between them. He
stressed that the establishment of the joint industrial zone achieves economic
integration between the two countries and the creation of complementary
industries capable of reaching all world markets.
The head of the Jordanian-Iraqi brotherhood committee, Ahmed al-Lozi, stressed
the importance of the Iraqi parliamentary forum in boosting economic and trade
cooperation between the two brotherly countries, pointing out that the
historical and brotherly ties between the two brotherly countries require all
of us to support all efforts aimed at enhancing relations in all fields.
