The Department of Statistics issued
its monthly report on the index of industrial producer prices, which indicates
a rise in the industrial producer price index for January 2019 to 118.62
against 116.97 for the same month of 2018, recording an increase of 1.4%. Among
the major industrial groups that contributed to this increase were
manufacturing industries with 0.21 percentage points, with relative importance
of 86.0%, extractive industries by 1.33 percentage points, with a relative
importance of 8.2%, while electricity prices decreased by 0.13 percentage
points, 5.8%.
The report also indicates that the industrial producer price index for the
month of January to 118.62 against 121.43 for the month of December of 2018
decreased by 2.3%, as a result of the decline in the index of manufacturing
prices by 2.88 percentage points, the relative importance of 86.0 The index of
the prices of the extractive industries rose by 0.18 percentage points, with a
relative importance of 8.2%, and the electricity price index increased by 0.38
percentage points, with a relative importance of 5.8%.
