The
Council of Ministers decided to approve the coverage of the Ma'an Development
Zone with the incentives and benefits offered to investors in the productive
branches and operating initiatives. The meeting was held on Monday under the
chairmanship of Prime Minister Dr. Omar Al-Razaz.
According
to the decision, the operation of Jordanian workers in the new production
branches in the Ma'an Development Area, similar to the production branches and
other operating initiatives, will be supported for one year from the date of
joining the worker during the first year from the date of commencement of
operation.
According
to the decision, the production branches in the Ma'an Development Area,
registered with the Investment Authority, will be required to have Jordanian labour
ratios to the total number of workers in these branches by 40 percent this
year, 45 percent by the beginning of 2020 and 50 percent by the beginning of
next year. 2021 ".
The
aim of the resolution is to provide support to eligible development areas such
as the Ma'an Development Area, attract investment and provide employment
opportunities for the people of the governorate.
On
the other hand, the Council of Ministers approved the implementation of the
work required to address the flow of floods and drifts in the Northern Jordan
Valley, and to develop solutions and urgent measures to avoid casualties and
damage to property and infrastructure during rainy seasons.
Under
the resolution, the Ministry of Public Works and Housing was commissioned to
study the designs for the implementation of the required works from the
rehabilitation of ferries, the establishment of ferries, the establishment of
retaining walls, the establishment of protectorates for valleys and the
identification of financial costs for this purpose.
The
Council of Ministers approved the loan agreement of the European Investment
Bank (EIB) to finance Deer Ala and Karama project for water supply and
sanitation.
Under
the agreement, the rehabilitation of the water supply systems in the Deer Ala
and Karama areas, as well as the sewage and treatment system in the Deer Ala
area, improvements in water supply systems, the implementation of new
pipelines, the replacement of existing pipes and the construction of new water
tanks, the expansion and construction of pumping stations, Rehabilitation of
all existing water supply facilities such as wells and reservoirs, as well as
pipe repairs and installation of meters and valves to reduce the amount of
water lost.
Under
the agreement, a central system for the collection and treatment of sewage will
be established in the Deer Ala area through new sewerage and transport networks
and the establishment of wastewater treatment plants to serve the residents of
the area, which will be expandable in the future.
