source familiar with the «opinion» that the Iraqi Minister of Industry and
Trade Dr. Saleh al-Jubouri is currently visiting Jordan, for talks with the
Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply, Dr. Tariq al-Hamouri, supplementing
what was agreed upon during the last visit to Iraq.
The source pointed out that
al-Jubouri will meet with Prime Minister Dr. Omar al-Razzaz to brief him on the
implementation of the procedures related to the agreements.
The Iraqi minister is
accompanied by a high-level economic delegation of businessmen and a technical
committee to discuss any impediments to the implementation of the agreements
signed between the parties.
The source said that the
delegation will meet in the Jordanian industry a number of Jordanian
industrialists and businessmen.
Jordan and Iraq signed a
number of agreements in the economic sector, where the two sides agreed to
activate the decision of the Iraqi Council of Ministers adopted in 2017 to
exempt the Jordanian goods list from customs duties. The two sides also took
many measures for the purpose of establishing the joint Jordanian-Iraqi
industrial zone, Provided that the Jordanian side provides the Iraqi side with
electricity through the electrical connection. It was also agreed to exempt the
Iraqi goods imported through the port of Aqaba from 75% of the fees charged by
the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority.
