The
head of the Federation of Iraqi Industries Ali al-Saadi said that the two
countries set a road map for their economic relations, pointing out the efforts
made to grant a list of goods exemptions from customs duties imposed by Iraq on
imports
He
stressed that Iraq wants a Jordanian product provided that it does not affect
the Iraqi industry to reach the desired economic integration between the two
countries, and called for monitoring the goods entering Iraq through Jordan in
order to preserve the reputation of Jordanian industry.
In
turn, the President of the Baghdad Chamber of Commerce Jafar al-Hamdani, Iraq
is in dire need of a joint Arab economic project to return to the incubator
Arab and international, indicating that the agreements signed with Jordan will
be the real start to it.
Al-Hamdani
said that Iraq wants to be present at the Arab and international economic
events and to arrive at the earliest time to the WTO agreement and the
integration of Iraq in the global economy. He pointed out that the agreements
will be an opportunity to reach the Red Sea ports via Jordan.
He
added that Iraq wants Jordan, which he described as the safe back of his
country, access to international banks, and the establishment of economic
partnerships with Jordanian employers and the supply of goods through Aqaba.
He
pointed out that the agreements signed between the two countries are important
and will give great results to the Iraqi and Jordanian economies. It is also
important for the Iraqi industry and the Iraqi trader, stressing that Jordan is
one of the most important commercial windows needed by Iraq in the next stage
to enter goods and export goods to stimulate industrialists to invest in the
industrial sector.
On
the side lines of the forum, which was attended by a group of businessmen in
the two countries, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Amman
Chamber of Industry and the Baghdad Chamber of Commerce, as well as several
issues of interest to the private sector in the two countries, including the
need to benefit from the agreements and the establishment of joint exhibitions
and benefit from the experience of Jordan specifications and standards Customs
interconnection and incentives in the industrial city and facilitating the
granting of visas to drivers at the border.
