The volume of national exports last year increased by 3.6 percent compared with the same period of 2017, driven by higher exports of clothing, potash and fertilizers. According to a statement issued by the Department of Statistics on Monday,

The value of exports during the last year amounted to 4 billion and 668 million dinars, and imports 14 billion and 354 million dinars, a decrease of 1.4 percent compared to the previous year.

The value of national exports of clothing and related accessories rose by 11.6 percent, crude potash by 16.1 percent, fertilizers by 13.1 percent, national pharmaceutical exports by 0.1 percent, vegetables and fruits by 18.4 percent and crude phosphate by 8.1 percent. The value of imports of crude oil and its derivatives rose by 20.2 percent,

machinery and electrical appliances by 2.4 percent, iron and steel products by 16.6 percent, plastics and their products by 7.3 percent, while imports of vehicles, motorcycles and parts decreased by 22.0 percent, machinery and machinery by 24.1 percent.
