The industrial sector confirmed its
complete refusal to add the exemption of checks to the draft amnesty law
currently being studied by the House of Representatives.
The industrial sector said during a rally on Sunday evening that the inclusion
of checks in the draft amnesty law will have serious economic repercussions on
the business environment and investment in the Kingdom, in addition to damaging
the dealings between all economic sectors, not to mention the loss of financial
rights to industrialists especially And the private sector in general, and is
causing great complications in the economic cycle in financial transactions in
the banking system.
The industrialists agree that the exemption of checks will negatively affect
the investment environment in the Kingdom and lead to the flight of investors.
A number of non-Jordanian investors said during the meeting that they are
considering closing their investments in Jordan worth tens of millions and
transferring them to another country.
The industrialists stressed the need not to include amnesty for fugitives from
the judiciary and those who have not been held accountable for violating the
rights of their clients through the issuance of checks with no balance.
A number of industrialists said during the meeting that they would stop dealing
with checks if they were included in the amnesty law, which would lead to the
collapse of the impending economic cycle in the Kingdom, and the inability of
many factories to pay the salaries of their employees who support more than one
million citizens. And the lack of flow of hard currency of exports estimated at
6 billion dollars and the cessation of the banking system and the credit
process because of the existence of a large amount of checks in the collection
to ensure facilities.
At the end of the meeting, the attendees called upon all representatives of the
Jordanian private sector to agree on any escalating steps against the inclusion
of check cases in the general amnesty law, calling on the members of the House
of Representatives to assume their responsibilities to protect the national
economy in the difficult circumstances of this economy.
