Prime Minister Dr.
Omar Al-Razzaz stressed the importance of partnership between the government
and its various ministries and institutions, Amman Chamber of Industry and
Jordanian industry in general.
"The government is
ready to hold an in-depth meeting with the Chamber to discuss the challenges
and opportunities facing the national industry," he said.
"No industry
without export, especially that the local market is small, as well as the state
of production of the industry," he said, adding that the slogan "Made
in Jordan" makes us all proud of Jordan, and this name in our conscience
and conscience, and enhances the quality of our industry and efforts. Which are
being made for competition and export at the global level.
He stressed the need to
transfer school trips from archaeological and historical sites to the factories
to inform students of production and productivity and replace the culture of
defect to the culture of work, pointing out that "with the enthusiasm of
everyone will not only say (Made in Jordan), but we will proudly say made in
Jordan and Jordanian hands, What we seek in cooperation with all. "
The ceremony, which was
attended by a group of industrialists, included the presentation of promotional
films prepared by the campaign on the national industry and the signing of two
agreements between the campaign and the ministries of education and youth, as
well as honouring the industrial companies that developed the slogan "Made
in Jordan" and its former committee members.
The head of the Amman
Chamber of Industry, Eng. Fathi al-Jaghbir, stressed the necessity of
cooperation between the public and private sectors to promote national
industries in the local market and export markets, pointing out that the
coverage rate of national products for domestic consumption during the current
year amounted to 45.4 percent compared to 40.6 percent last year.
Al-Jaghbir called for a
meeting between the Prime Minister and the government's economic team to
discuss the challenges facing the growth process.
Regarding the tax
exemption program, which ends by the end of this year, Al-Jaghbir stressed the
need to adopt an alternative program to stimulate Jordanian exports as soon as
possible. He called for the commitment of ministries and government institutions
to the Prime Minister's communications to give the price preference for
national industries in official tenders by 15 percent. The government has
limited all government procurement to the Jordanian industry, with the addition
of universities, Greater Amman Municipality and municipalities to the
institutions covered by this decision.
For his part, the Vice
President of the Chamber, the head of the committee overseeing the campaign
(Made in Jordan), Eng. Musa Al-Saket, stressed the importance of signing
memoranda of cooperation between the campaign and the Ministries of Education
and Youth, and the great role that can be played by ministries and agencies in
the success of this national campaign, The largest ministry in terms of the
number of employees, which oversees more than one million students, can be
fruitful cooperation with them in transforming them into ambassadors of the
national industry in their schools and homes, believing that supporting the
national industry will contribute to create more job opportunities for the
people of this country.
As for the agreement
signed with the Ministry of Youth, Al-Saket explained that the campaign will
focus on convincing the youth that the academic track is not the only option
for them. The technical and vocational track can lead to sustainable and
required jobs in light of the need for the labour market, especially in the
industrial sector. .
Al-Saket reviewed the
stages of "Made in Jordan" campaign launched five years ago by the
Amman Chamber of Industry and the Jordanian Foundation for the Development of
Economic Projects in order to introduce the local consumer to the quality of
the national industry and the great role it plays in supporting the Jordanian
economy, On the turnout of these industries in conjunction with the call for
industrialists to develop their products to meet the needs and tastes of
citizens at reasonable prices, pointing out that the campaign has become a
national campaign involving several ministries and official bodies in addition
to all industrial chambers .
He pointed out that the
campaign focused in its beginnings on addressing the Jordanian citizen directly
through advertisements and promotional brochures that highlight the importance
of the national industry and then went to visit public and private schools and
UNRWA schools to give awareness lectures on the importance of national
industry. , And organized school trips to the factories to inform students of
the commitment of Jordanian factories to the quality and safety standards and
modern production methods used in these factories.
He pointed out that the
campaign organized a number of days in a number of universities and a special
logo was designed to distinguish national products from other goods. The
campaign also marketed Jordanian products electronically, in addition to
organizing a number of exhibitions for direct sale in Amman, A number of
governorates under the name of "Made in Jordan".
