The Meeting Discussed Strengthening Jordan's Economic Relations with Indonesia

Members of the Board of Directors of the Amman Chamber of Commerce discussed yesterday with the delegation of the International Cooperation Committee in the Indonesian Parliament ways to develop the bilateral trade and investment relations and activate the agreements signed between them. 

The Chamber of Commerce, which is considered the largest in the Kingdom, attaches great importance to building on the distinguished relations between the two countries to promote and promote economic relations. Jordan is an important trade gateway for the Indonesian market, especially reconstruction projects in Syria and Iraq, As Indonesia is also a trade gateway for East Asia for the Kingdom. 

He pointed out that the trade exchanges between the two countries are still less than ambitions despite the opportunities and possibilities, stressing the need to strengthen and expand the base of goods exchanged between the two sides and intensify visits of trade delegations and the establishment of joint exhibitions. 

Aliyan said that the Kingdom's exports to Indonesia amounted to KD 107 million last year, mainly in metal products, chemical industries, ordinary metals and wood paste, compared to KD 83 million in imports. 

The Board of Directors of the Chamber, Jamal Farez and Reem Badran, pointed to many issues of interest to the two countries to strengthen their economic relations, especially the study of the possibility of signing a double taxation agreement or preferential trade agreement in addition to cooperation in tourism and information technology sectors. 

In turn, the Vice-Chairman of the Committee, Juliari Patubara, stressed the depth of the political relations between the two countries and the need to strengthen them in the fields of trade, economic, investment and tourism. 

During the meeting, which was attended by Indonesian Ambassador to the Kingdom Andrei Rahmianto, he said that his country has become one of the developed countries in the manufacture of vehicles, heavy machinery and transport aircraft, calling on Jordan to benefit from them. 

"The Indonesian side wants to strengthen its economic relations with Jordan and enter into joint projects, especially reconstruction in Syria and Iraq," he said. 

He pointed to the presence of a large number of Indonesian construction and construction companies operating in the Gulf market and wants to enter the Jordanian market with infrastructure projects and building bridges and other projects that help develop relations of cooperation between the two countries.
