A Jordanian economic delegation headed by the Minister of Industry is looking into increasing trade exchange in Algeria

Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Youssef Al-Shamali stressed the importance of joint work between Jordan and Algeria to enhance economic cooperation between them in various fields and to maximize the benefit from the available opportunities and areas based on the deep-rooted historical relations that bind the two brotherly countries.

Al-Shamali also stressed during his meeting in the Algerian capital, today, Sunday, with the Algerian Minister of Trade and Export Promotion, Professor Kamal Rezik, and the President and members of the Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in the presence of the President of the Chambers of Industry of Jordan and Amman, Eng. The private.

For his part, the Algerian Minister of Trade said that the visit of the northern minister and the accompanying delegation is important to discuss mechanisms for increasing economic cooperation between the two countries and to work to raise trade numbers to higher levels than the current ones, in addition to motivating businessmen and investors from both countries to take advantage of opportunities and turn them into advanced projects for joint economic cooperation.

The two ministers discussed, during a bilateral meeting, broader areas of economic cooperation and working to address some of the obstacles facing the flow of goods in both directions, as well as joint coordination regarding economic issues within the framework of the Arab League and international forums.

For his part, the head of the Jordan and Amman Chambers of Industry, Engineer Fathi Al-Jaghbir, said that the Jordanian private sector is looking forward with interest to developing economic cooperation with Algeria in various fields by stimulating trade exchange and establishing investments. (15) companies from various industrial sectors.

He added during his speech that the Jordanian industrial sector possesses highly competitive advantages in many productive sectors, stressing that the Kingdom is a regional and global gateway for economic exchange with the world due to the free trade agreements signed by the Kingdom with the largest global economic blocs.

The head of the Algerian Chamber of Industry and Commerce, Al-Tayeb Shabab, said that the visit of the Jordanian delegation and its participation in the exhibition is an important opportunity to discuss the frameworks of economic cooperation for the next stage and to agree on a program for the next stage.

It is noteworthy that the volume of trade exchange between the two countries during the year 2020, which amounted to (213) million dollars, compared to (197) million dollars during the year 2021, a decrease of nearly (8%).

 The volume of trade exchange during the first quarter of this year amounted to nearly $72 million, compared to $32 million for the same period in 2021.
