The President of the Jordan and Amman Chambers of Industry, Eng. Fathi Al-Jaghbair, has called for a meeting of the boards of directors of the industrial chambers today, Sunday, to discuss the implications of the U.S. President's decision to impose a 20% tariff on Jordanian exports to the United States, and to work on finding appropriate solutions to address these impacts.
Al-Jaghbair explained that the United States' decision to impose tariffs on several of its trading partners, including Jordan, necessitates taking measures to support the national industry. He pointed out that the government and the private sector are working in an integrated manner to enhance national production capacities and increase competitiveness.

He stressed that Jordan must adopt policies that ensure balance in its trade relations.
Al-Jaghbair also noted that the Jordanian industry has proven its ability to compete despite challenges, pointing out that the trade balance between Jordan and the United States recorded a surplus of 877 million dinars (USD 1.24 billion) in 2024. Jordan’s exports to the United States amounted to 2.208 billion dinars (USD 3.12 billion), compared to 1.958 billion dinars (USD 2.77 billion) in 2023, an increase of 12.8%.
He considered the U.S. decision a clear message that countries must protect their industries and strengthen local production.
