Al-Jaghabir Meets with Egyptian Private Sector Representatives and Discusses Strengthening Bilateral Relations

08-Dec-2024

The Jordanian Pavilion at Food Africa 2024, a specialized food industry exhibition held in the Arab Republic of Egypt, attracted numerous businessmen and buyers from Egypt, Arab countries, and African nations. The exhibition is considered one of the most important specialized events in the food industry sector.
The Jordanian Pavilion, organized by Jordan Export , was inaugurated by the President of the Jordan and Amman Chambers of Industry, Engineer Fathi Al-Jaghabir, and the Jordanian Ambassador in Cairo, Amjad Al-Adalieh. On the sidelines of the Jordanian participation, bilateral meetings and discussions were held between Jordanian companies participating in the exhibition and Egyptian, Arab, and African businessmen.

During this visit, Al-Jaghabir and Wahid Al-Rajabi, a board member of the Jordan and Amman Chambers of Industry, held meetings with Cairo Chamber of Commerce President Ayman Al-Ashry and Giza Chamber of Commerce President (also named) Ayman Al-Ashry. These meetings focused on exploring cooperation aspects between the two countries, addressing trade exchange obstacles, and building upon the distinguished relationship between the two brotherly nations, both at the people and leadership levels.

The discussions aimed to revitalize the complementary industrial partnership between Jordan and Egypt, particularly concerning the exchange of raw materials necessary for industries in both countries, and maximizing investment opportunities.
Al-Jaghabir called for removing obstacles facing Jordanian industrial companies seeking to export to Egypt, especially given the trade balance heavily favoring Egypt. The trade volume between the two countries reached 924 million dollars in 2023, with Jordanian exports to Egypt at approximately 226 million dollars, compared to imports of 697 million dollars.

Jordanian exports were concentrated in fertilizers, pharmaceuticals, and plastics, while the primary imports from Egypt included fuel, mineral oils, vegetables, fruits, food products, electrical appliances, and ready-made clothing.
