The Minister of Industry, Trade
and Supply Youssef Al-Shamali inaugurated the third Jordanian International
Conference on Detergents, on behalf of the Prime Minister, with the President
of the Jordan and Amman Chambers of Industry, Eng. Fathi Al-Jaghbir.
Al-Shamali
said that the detergent industry in Jordan rose to advanced ranks, which gave
it a competitive advantage and made it worthy of display in various countries
of the world.

increasing demand for high-quality products, with the efforts of manufacturers
who have become able to take the most efficient way to market and develop their
products.
Al-Shamali
pointed out that the chemical and cosmetic industries sector, of which the
detergent industry is a part, is one of the most important economic sectors, as
its exports represented about 16 percent of industrial exports in 2021.
He
stressed that it represents a successful model in responding to the
requirements of the local and global market, pointing out that the industry
faces a great opportunity to develop and increase production and marketing,
with the support of the government, which considers the industry a basic
building block in the economy.
For his
part, the head of the Jordan and Amman Chambers of Industry, Engineer Fathi
Al-Jaghbir, said that the conference aims to make Jordan a regional center for
the detergent industry, by developing and enhancing its competitiveness, by
benefiting from international technological expertise, stressing that the
industry faces many challenges that require the work and cooperation of the
public and private sectors. Together, and building a true institutional
partnership, by supporting promotion, marketing and financing activities, and discussing
relevant legislation before its approval.
Jaghbir
indicated that the number of establishments operating in the detergent industry
is 768, with a capital of approximately 788 million dinars.
The
detergent industry employs about 15,000 workers, and its exports reached nearly
one billion dinars in 2021.
The owner
of the Giant Group and its CEO, Hassan Al-Smadi, considered the conference a
necessity as it provides an opportunity for Jordanian manufacturers to exchange
experiences with leading international companies with experience in the
detergent industry.
He
stressed that this industry is constantly evolving, so that its production
meets the needs of the consumer, through its commitment and provision of the
highest international standards, under the supervision of a number of
regulatory authorities, which contributed to its progress and its access to
many markets.
Al-Smadi
indicated that the Giant Group is now producing raw materials, not just
household cleaning materials, by applying the latest technologies in this
regard, expressing its aspiration to expand in cooperation with specialized
international companies.
Also,
within the activities of the conference, which was organized by the Jordan and
Amman Chambers of Industry, a specialized exhibition was opened for suppliers
of raw materials for the detergent industry, with the participation of 42 major
international and local cleaning companies.
About 600
participants from Jordan and various Arab and foreign countries participated in
the conference.
