The Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Youssef Al-Shamali laid down the board of directors of the Jordan Chamber of Industry with the details of the integrated industrial partnership between Jordan, the UAE and Egypt, which aims to achieve integration in many fields between the three countries, especially the industrial ones.
Al-Shamali, during his visit to the Chamber of Industry yesterday, presented its board of directors, in the presence of the Secretary-General of the Ministry, Dana Al-Zoubi, in the form of the executive steps of the partnership and the procedures that were agreed upon during the first meeting of the industry ministers of the three countries.
He said that the initiative came as a result of the summit meeting that brought together His Majesty King Abdullah II, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and the President of the UAE, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, during the holy month of Ramadan.
He pointed out that the partnership was also a reflection of the strength of the bilateral relations between the three brotherly countries and the tireless efforts of their leadership to enhance cooperation in various fields, especially the economy.
Al-Shamali stressed that the projects that will be implemented within the framework of the initiative will be carried out through the private sector, which is a key partner for this unprecedented initiative and establishes Arab economic cooperation between Jordan, the UAE, Egypt and countries that may join it later.
He said that the proposals monitored by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply during its meetings with representatives of the private sector before its launch were taken into consideration in preparing the partnership initiative, which reflects a real and effective partnership in terms of enhancing the success of the initiative and directing it in a way that makes it easier for the private sector in the three countries to benefit from it and the projects that will be implemented accordingly.
And he indicated that the initiative is a framework for an integrative industrial partnership with the aim of achieving sustainable economic development in continuity and strengthening those brotherly relations. It lays the foundations for unprecedented cooperation between the three countries and will constitute an advanced model for Arab economic cooperation.
Al-Shamali said: "This partnership between the three countries is an opportunity to continue exploring partnership and investment opportunities in an effort to deepen coordination, cooperation and strategic integration between the three brotherly countries in a manner that does not violate the legislation in force in the three countries."
He added that given the importance of the role played by the industrial sector in the process of economic development, this cooperation came as a basis for growth in light of the capabilities that our countries possess in this field.
He referred to the investment fund for the initiative, which was announced by the UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, in conjunction with the signing and announcement of the initiative in Abu Dhabi, at a value of $10 billion, and it will be managed by the UAE "ADQ" Holding Company.
The Secretary-General of the Ministry touched on the next steps for the initiative's work, the most important of which is the formation of 6 work teams from government agencies and the private sector in the fields of: food, fertilizers, medicines, textiles, clothing, metals, chemicals, plastics and equipment.
She indicated that a list of companies wishing to join the partnership projects between the three countries will be drawn up, to which the standards apply, in line with the desired goals of the partnership, and to be within the fields and industrial sectors and projects of the initial first phase, in addition to the basic requirements of those companies.
She said that these companies will participate in the workshop that will be held in one of the three countries, mostly in Cairo, in order to link them with the Egyptian and Emirati companies in the month of 7/2022.
The Chairman of the Chamber's Board of Directors, Eng. Fitji Al-Jaghbir and members of the Board of Directors stressed the importance of the partnership initiative and the areas targeted for achieving integration in the industrial fields, based on the importance of the industrial sector in the three sister countries.
They also affirmed the readiness of the Chamber of Industry and the industrial sector to deal positively with this partnership, which the private sector looks forward to with interest to enhance Arab economic cooperation and increase coordination to face challenges.
